My name is Mike, and I've spent my entire life fishing the West Coast.
Fishing has always been more than just a hobby. It's where I find challenge, connection, and some of my favourite memories — whether it's chasing salmon, exploring new water, or sharing time on the water with friends and family.
It Started With A Simple Idea
The Wedding Zinger began with a simple question:
"Can I build something better?"
What started as an attempt to save a few dollars by making my own fishing gear quickly turned into a deeper pursuit of understanding what makes a lure perform.
I started paying attention to the details most people never see — the quality of the components, the durability of the finish, the strength of the hardware, and the small differences that separate a lure you trust from one you don't.
That process changed the way I looked at fishing gear. It became less about simply making a lure and more about building something I would confidently tie on when the opportunity of a lifetime is on the line.
Why I Keep Building
The Wedding Zinger exists because I believe fishing gear should have a purpose behind it.
Every lure I build is designed around the same standards I expect for my own tackle: quality materials, thoughtful design, and the ability to hold up when it matters.
But the reason I keep doing this goes beyond the gear itself.
It's the moments that happen because of it.
The first cast into new water.
The rod loading up.
The chaos when a fish finally commits.
The memories made with the people standing beside you.
That's what fishing is really about.
The gear is just the beginning.
Looking Ahead
The Wedding Zinger started with a single lure, built by hand at a workbench in Sooke and first sold on a beach in Port Renfrew.
But the goal has always been bigger than just making fishing tackle.
I want to build a brand that represents the way I believe fishing gear should be made — with purpose, attention to detail, and respect for the people who trust it when they're on the water.
That means continuing to develop new products, improving how they're built, and surrounding The Wedding Zinger with anglers who share the same passion for chasing fish and creating memories on the water.
This is still just the beginning.
The goal isn't to become the biggest tackle company.
It's to become one that anglers know they can trust.
